I want everyone to know that they need to be extra cautious when online, especially over the holidays. There have been several reports worldwide about the increase in ransomware (also known as cryptovirus). I won't get into the specifics (you can Google search), but this virus essentially takes over your computer and in exchange for several hundred dollars, the attacker releases the computer back to you. The best method of avoiding this is to make sure your software (especially Java, iTunes, Quicktime, Firefox and Google Chrome) are automatically updating and that you stay away from suspicious or unexpected emails or websites. Anti-Virus is also recommended but not a sure bet against the newest threats.
